Willy Rizzo coffee table `Alveo` in burl walnut veneer with brass dry bar and brass detailed corners, 1970`s ca, Italy.

This large square coffee table/bar by Willy Rizzo was purchased directly from the original private owner in Italy and comes in excellent condition. The table originally was retailed by the Italian company Mario Sabot from 1972.

Set on a recessed base this table appears to float. The

`Alveo` range smartly combined Modernist designs with richly stained wood alongside polished metals such as brass for a warm and glamorous look.

The `Alveo` design (translated as `riverbed`) has been published in several publications: the July/August 1972 issue of the design periodical Casa Vogue, Maison & Jardin, September issue 1973, page 131; and `Le retour de Willy Rizzo`, AD, number 86, September issue 2009, page 54.

Veneered in quality burl walnut in a rich shade of gold/blond colour, which is finished with the original soft matt lacquer, all in excellent condition. Great uniform colour and finish, with no major scratches or marks. Added to this luxury there are the solid brass faceted corners, Rizzo`s trademark which turns his design into a jewel. These brass corners are in very good condition & have the original lacquer & patina adding character. In the centre there is a large removable solid brass square dry bar, also suitable for display. The solid brass dry bar surface is in good condition with no damages, only some age related patina in line with age & use.

The plinth base has the following dimensions: Height: 19 cm, Width: 80 cm, Depth: 80 cm.

The dry bar in the centre has the following dimensions: Height: 12 cm, Width: 39.5 cm, Depth: 39.5 cm.
