Sciolari chandelier `Chevron`, large 21 lights, brass & chrome, 1970`s, Italian.

This chandelier has been gently cleaned while respecting the vintage patina. It is newly rewired & earthed with new lamp holders & 2 metres of grey silk cable. It is fully working, PAT tested by an electrician and ready to install. Light bulbs are included in this price. This chandelier can work with a dimmer. It is possible to use this light in other countries although it may be necessary to purchase different light bulbs suitable to local electricity.

Vintage Gaetano Sciolari chandeliers are known for the quality of the materials and originality of design. In this case the traditional branch shaped chandelier is given a Modern twist with reflective materials and sharp geometric forms. This design is influenced by the Brutalist & Futuristic styles of the 1970`s. The combination of materials & sculptural presence make this chandelier a unique addition to a range of interiors such as Art Deco, Mid-Century Modern, Hollywood Regency, 70`s Glamour, Minimal, Industrial, or Contemporary.

This 1970`s Sciolari chandelier is of large proportions and has a high quality chrome & solid polished brass frame arranged in a zigzag or chevron shape.

The sculptural Modernist design consists of a center hexagonal column in polished chrome that continues at the top towards the tubular polished chrome rod & ceiling cup.

From this main central tall column depart sideways 3 double arms in brass & chrome, each connecting to 3 medium height vertical chrome columns. Each of these middle columns has 2 arms creating a continuous hexagonal beehive pattern with alternance of heights for a total of 21 columns. Each of them finishing at the top in a lamp holder, and at the bottom in a chrome hexagonal decorative flat plate.

The arms that joined the columns are designed with horizontal bands; these are in highly polished solid brass & chrome.

In total there are 21 lights divided in 3 tiers: 3 lights at the top tier, 9 lights at the medium tier, and 9 lights at the bottom tier.

Each lamp holder carries one standard (E14) light bulb up to 40 Watts. At present photographed & fitted with Pygmy clear light bulbs of 15 Watts which are included in the price. Other (E14) bulb shapes like Golf or Candle could be used for a different look.

At the top, the chrome rod unscrews from the frame for easy transport. This rod can also be shortened or replaced with a chain if needed. It finishes at the top in a ring with a removable S hook to fit to the ceiling, all this covered by the ceiling cup.

The ceiling cup is in polished chrome. It is fully removable and sits on a metal ring that slides along the rod and can be secured by a crew at different heights. Inside the chrome ceiling cup there is the original Sciolari maker`s paper label.

This vintage chandelier is in very good condition and sound construction. The brass & chrome surfaces are in very good condition with a warm light antique patina and minor superficial marks in line with age & wear.

Packing is offered free of charge. We take special professional care in packing. For safe transport the frame would be wrapped in a layer of bubble wrap, foam & soft card. The rod would be unscrewed & packed separately if necessary. Both frame & rod would easily fit into a box with loose fill packing peanuts ideal for safe posting.

Additional dimensions:

The total Height of the chandelier with the rod is 87 cm.

The dimensions of the frame only without the rod is: Height: 41.5 cm, Width: 79 cm, Depth: 79 cm

Additionally we have in stock 2 matching Sciolari Chevron chandeliers of 9 lights each (a pair with slightly shorter rods) , featured on this site individually as item # 11141.

While Sciolari Lighting has been around since 1892, it was their most famous offspring, Gaetano Sciolari, who went on to design for Italian manufacturer Stilnovo in the 1950`s. Read more on our Roomscape Blog about Gaetano Sciolari Lighting.
