Peter Ghyczy style coffee table (in the manner of), frameless design with quality brutalist glass top with gold lacquer legs, 1980`s ca Dutch.

This coffee table has been gently cleaned while respecting the vintage patina and is ready to use.

Peter Ghyczy is one of the pioneers of the floating glass table during the Post Modern period. His designs are known for the iconic clamp technique along with quality cast metals. The legs are hand cast by local craftsmen, in this design the legs are gold lacquer with decorative textured inserts which appear to frame the design. The result gives architectural presence and depth.

This table in the manner of Ghyczy, has many of his design features, plus a stunning shard of textured glass as a top for an impressive sculptural effect in the Brutalist style.

This table would complement a range of interiors such as Art Deco, Hollywood Regency, Brutalist, 70`s Glamour, Post Modern, Industrial or Contemporary.

This table features Ghyczy`s patented clamping technique, characterised by the glass top inserting into each cast leg. The legs are gold tone lacquer with a curved diagonal flat portion at the top covering two sides of the glass top and allowing the corner to show. Each leg is divided in two vertical columns with polished surfaces and a textured vertical pattern inside. The diagonal portion at the top of the legs is double to allow the glass top to slide in. The upper section has on the inside a rubber surface to secure the glass in place. There are two large plastic screws per leg clamping the glass top from beneath. The result is a `clean` design which is also sturdy.

The decorative glass top is of exceptional quality & casting. It is clear and of 14 mm. The upper side is deeply textured and sculptural with a fossil-like theme. The underside surface is of a gloss flat finish. The borders are rounded and organic simulating water in the Brutalist style.

This vintage coffee table is in very good condition. The frame is sound & strong. The lacquer on the metal legs is in very good condition with a warm patina and a couple of tiny marks in line with age. The quality glass is in very good condition with no cracks or chips around the edges.

Packing is offered free of charge. We take special professional care while packing. The glass top would be wrapped in bubble wrap and an outer layer of card. If necessary the legs could be easily unscrewed and also wrapped in bubble wrap & card. This table would fit easily in a box for safe shipping.

Additional dimensions:

The glass alone has a Length: 135.5 cm, Width: 81 cm & thickness of 14 mm

The Height of the legs alone is 45 cm
