Palwa wall lights, pair of sconces with optical crystals on a gilt plated brass frame, 1970`s ca, Germany.
Both wall lights have been thoroughly cleaned, newly rewired, in full working order and ready to install. Light bulbs included.
Palwa Lighting is well known for their quality hand polished crystals and originality of design. In this decorative pair of sconces, the Modernist quality 24 Karat gold plated brass frame is elegantly decorated with a naturalistic foliate arranged in a geometric pattern. The optical crystals add further depth & texture.
Sitting at the centre of these wall lights is a large crystal surrounded by 24 small optical crystals. Discretely positioned behind the large optical shade there is the light source which creates a subtle and interesting effect. The large crystal has a diameter of 8 cm and is held in place with a solid brass screw. The small crystals have a diameter of 3 cm and each is securely wired to the frame. The crystals are all in very good condition and for safe transport the large crystal could be removed and individually packed. The gold gilt plated brass frame has the original antiqued patina which has developed over time adding character. Each wall light takes 2 small screw standard (E14) light bulbs up to 60 Watts each. Presently fitted & photographed with Pygmy shaped clear light bulbs of 15 Watts, which are available in most lighting shops. Alternatively these lights could take other bulb shapes such as candle shape or golf bulb. At the back of each wall light there is a hook to hang onto a wall screw.
