Palwa chandeliers are well known for the quality hand polished crystals and originality of design. In this very decorative piece, the Modernist quality 24 Karat gold plated brass frame is elegantly decorated with a naturalistic foliate arranged in a geometric pattern. The optical crystals add further depth & texture.
From the centre of this chandelier 10 gold gilt arms radiate outward and up to a bulbous shape decorated with 90 crystals. At the end of each arm there are 4 large leaves in brass, each of which frames a large round optical shade. Towards the base of the arm there are 5 small brass leaves each containing a small optical crystal shade. Each large crystal is held in place with a solid brass screw while the small crystals are securely wired to the frame. The crystals are all in very good condition with no chips to the outer edge and only a few minor marks where they screw to the frame and in line with age. The gold gilt brass frame has the original antiqued patina which has developed over time adding character. Carries 5 standard small screw light bulbs (E14) up to 60 Watts each. Presently fitted & photographed with Pygmy shaped clear light bulbs 15 Watts, which are available in most lighting shops. Alternatively it could take any other bulb shapes such as candle shape or golf bulb. This chandelier comes with the original vintage gold gilt plated brass chain. This chain has an attractive combination of two types of links; round & oval. The chain can be easily shortened or lengthened. At the top of the chain there is the original gold gilt plated brass ceiling cup which has inside, at the top of the bar, an S hook to fit the chandelier to the ceiling. For safe transport the large crystal discs can be removed and individually packed. The chain can be folded so the chandelier fits into a box.
