Hillebrand brass, glass & Lucite bead large pair of wall or ceiling lights, 1960`s ca, German.

These wall/ceiling lights lights have been gently cleaned while respecting the vintage patina. They are newly rewired & PAT tested by an electrician and ready to install. These lights can be use with a dimmer. It is possible to use these lights in other countries with light bulbs suitable to local electricity.

This pair of large vintage lights, by German manufacturer Hillebrand, were designed to work as either ceiling or wall lights.

With their classic form, these lights are reminiscent of earlier Art Deco lighting. This pair have a Modernist 50`s twist in the design with the elongated brass segments & interlocking Lucite beads.

The styling & materials make these lights well suited for a range of interiors such as Art Deco, Traditional, Hollywood Regency, Minimalist or Contemporary.

Structurally each light consists of a solid polished brass round base. At the centre of each base there is a vertical brass column through which the shade attaches. This is finished with a solid brass decorative plate & finial.

Each shade is slightly dome shaped consisting of tiny solid polished brass square section columns separated by segments of Lucite beads & tiny clear cylinder shape beads. These are strung together to make a sunburst pattern. Light passing though emphasises the depth and gold toned reflections.

The glass shade has a geometric pattern which enhances the sunburst pattern. Cleverly the brass & bead portion of the shade is strung tightly to fit around a groove in the glass shade. The glass shade has a hole in the centre through which it is tightly held to the base.

On the back of the base there are 4 holes to screw & fit the light flush to the wall/ceiling.

Each light has 3 brass metal lamp holders facing horizontally to the base. Each lamp holder takes one  standard small screw (E 14) light bulbs up to 40 watts. At present fitted & photographed with Pygmy clear 15 Watts which are included in the price. The lights could although take other E14 light bulb shapes.

Both lights are in very good condition. The brass portions have the original clear lacquer on the brass with an attractive warm antique patina developed over the years and minor marks in line with age & wear. The glass portion of the shades are both in very good condition with no cracks or chips, and minor rubbing around the internal hole in line with age. The Lucite beads are in very good condition, all the original vintage ones and all present.

These lights sell together, and this price is for the pair.

Packing is offered free of charge.  We take special professional care with packing.  For safe transport, the glass portions would be removed and individually wrapped in a layer of bubble wrap & soft cardboard.  The frames will be wrapped similarly and both parts stack together. Together these pieces would easily fit into a box with loose cushioning for secure shipping with a courier.
