Vertebra Office Chair by Giancarlo Piretti & Emilio Ambasz for Castelli, 1978, Italian.

This chair has been gently cleaned while respecting the patina.

As the title of the chair suggests the design was inspired by vertebras. It was one of the first automatically adjustable ergonomic chairs, with a reclining backrest and a sliding seat, perfectly fitting to the movements of the body. This chair won the International Design Award for Excellence in Design in 1977.

The chair has the original vintage upholstery in a grey/ beige tone Harris tweed type fabric.

On the underside there is the original maker`s label which includes the date 1978.

This chair is in good vintage condition. The frame is intact and all original. There is rubbing & marks to the plastic frame, at least three areas where the black lacquer has peeled from the metal (as photographed) and some minor marks to the upholstery.

Packing is included in this price. This chair will be wrapped in bubble wrap with an outer layer of card. It would fit in a box with cushion fill for secure shipping with a courier.

The seat height is 46 cm.
