Trombone Lamp, a pair by Jo Hammerborg for Fog & Mørup,1968, Danish.

These lights have been thoroughly cleaned while respecting the vintage patina. They are both fully rewired & earthed with dark grey silk cable, a new switch on the shade, a new metal lamp holder and a new black plug. They have been PAT tested and are ready to use. These floor lamps are compatible with other countries although it may be necessary to purchase different light bulbs suitable to local electricity. It is possible to use these lamps with a dimmer switch on the wall. Light bulbs included.

This pair of original Mid Century design floor lamps are rare to find as a pair. This model aptly named `Trombone` was designed by Jo Hammerborg who was the founder & head designer at Danish manufacturer Fog & Mørup.

Sleek in shape but generous in creating ambience, the narrow slits in the shade spread a subtle light while the reflector stays focused on its subject. The design is intellectural & conceptual, best preserved in its original state as much as possible. The design would complement a range of interiors such as Mid-Century Modern, Industrial or Contemporary.

Each floor lamp is composed of three parts: the tubular shade at the top, the vertical frame of two tubular columns with a stretcher, and the rectangular base.

The tubular brushed aluminium metal shades rotate a 365 degree angle, generating different light options such as ambient, task, and as an uplighter. Each shade has 2 bands of cut out pattern, one at the top and one at the bottom. The inside of each shade is enameled white to reflect light. One of the shades is lined dark grey towards the bottom, probably a variation on the design.

The shade is connected to the two main vertical columns of the frame through an horizontal polished chrome detail, together with a black PVC attachment that allows the shade to rotate. Inside at the top of each shade there is a white lacquer round metal plate attached sideways containing the switch. On the other side of the plate there is one large screw (E27) lamp, this is a new lamp holder and earthed. This lamp holder is able to take up to 60 Watts. Presently fitted & photograph with E27 Candle Clear 25 Watts light bulbs, which are included in this price.

The middle portion of the frame is composed by two tubular columns in polished chrome with black PVC details at the top & bottom. There is an horizontal tubular stretcher in polished chrome on each lamp working as an stabiliser, that can be raised up or down at different heights. Each vertical pillar is attached to the base by a strong bolt from underneath the base. The electrical cables run hidden inside one of the columns of the frame.

At the bottom of each lamp there is a rectangular enameled grey metal surface with an iron base on the inside. The weighted base stabilizes the towering design. There are 4 black rubber feet on each lamp to raised them and protect the floor.

These lamps have been newly rewired and lightly clean, but are preserved in their original vintage condition. They are both in good condition with light wear as expected over the years. On the aluminium surfaces of the shades there are some marks and rubbing to the lacquer in one shade. The internal white enamel is rubbed as photographed. Both rectangular bases have the original grey enamel and there are minor marks and oxidation in places in line with age.

Additional dimensions:

Each base is Height: 2.5 cm, Width: 20 cm, Depth: 18 cm.

Each tubular shade is Diameter: 10 cm, Height: 25 cm.

Packing is offered free of charge. We take special professional care while packing. Each lamps would be bubble wrapped with an outer layer of card & foam and placed in a box, ideal for safe shipping.
