SELRO JEWELLERY HISTORY

The founder of Selro, Paul Selenger, was born in Russia in 1911.  He immigrated to New York in 1927 where he opened Selro in the late 1940’s. Selenger also designed for Hattie Carnegie. The Selro workshop was down the street from Hargo Creations makers of HAR jewellery. While the designs are distinct, there is certainly striking similarities. Selro jewellery was distributed by NY wholesaler Fran Co which placed jewellery in department stores such as Marshall Field’s, Weiboldt’s and Goldblatt’s. The company closed in 1975.
