Sciolari wall light, a large brass frame with 12 crystal shards, 1970`s ca, Italy.

This Modernist re-interpretation of the classic sunburst pattern by Gaetano Sciolari is elegant and sculptural, in solid brass & crystals. The centre is illuminated with 6 light bulbs from which radiate 12 long optical crystal shards. The combination of polished brass alongside satin finished brass on the frame, is a signature style of Sciolari. The round frame and bracket are in satin finished brass, while the arms, rings to the lamp holders and the lateral 4 head cups are in polished brass. Ideal as a wall light or as a flush mounted ceiling light.

The round frame consist of 2 parts screw together by 4 lateral head cups. The external conic shape surface has 12 arms in a sunburst pattern, each finishing at the end with a removable optical crystal shard. Each lamp holder is screwed to this surface by 2 polished brass rings, one above and one underneath. The second back part of the frame is a round flat surface with 4 holes to fit the piece to the ceiling or wall.

Takes 6 small screw standard (E14) light bulbs up to 40 Watts. Light bulbs are included in the price. Presently photographed with Pygmy 15 Watts shaped light bulbs which are available from most lighting shops. Alternatively this piece can take other light bulb shapes. All the crystal shards are in perfect condition, the brass frame is in very good condition with a light patina in line with age. For easy transport the crystal shards can be individually wrapped and placed alongside the frame in a small box. This item is also featured as a ceiling light on the site as item # 10720.  Thoroughly cleaned, newly rewired and ready to use.

The dimensions of each crystal shard are: Height: 25.5 cm, Width 3.5 cm

Gaetano Sciolari Biography

While Sciolari Lighting has been around since 1892, it was their most famous offspring Gaetano Sciolari who went on to design for Italian manufacturer Stilnovo in the 1950’s. Sciolari`s first designs were Atom inspired pendants, but in the 60’s he shifted to conventional chandelier forms. Read more on our Blog about Gaetano Sciolari.
