Gaetano Sciolari for Lightolier large sculptural 16 light chandelier in polished chrome, brushed aluminium & glass, 1970`s ca, Italian.
Thoroughly cleaned, newly rewired
with new lamp holders, in full working order and ready to install. Light bulbs included.
In this design Gaetano Sciolari playfully adapts the scientific helix form to create a geometric brutalist layered sculpture. Fascinating from every direction, the combination of highly polished chrome with brushed aluminium adds further depth & texture. Ideal for a Modernist, Art Deco, Minimalist or industrial setting.
From a central column in highly polished chrome radiate five arms. Each arm is a descending series of three similar chrome illuminated cylinders. These are joined together by brushed aluminium arches. At the bottom of each cylinder there is a removable brutalist textured clear glass shade that unscrews to change the bulb inside. At the top of each cylinder there is a brushed aluminium cap which is removable. There is also a light at the bottom of the central column to make a total of sixteen lights.
Carries sixteen E14 standard small screw light bulbs up to 40 Watts each. Presently fitted & photographed with Pygmy shaped clear light bulbs 15 Watts. These light bulbs are included but replacements are available from most lighting shops. Alternatively it is possible to use any other bulb shapes. The pendant rod easily unscrews from the top of the frame and can be replaced with a longer rod or chain if needed. At the top of the rod there is the original chrome ceiling cup which has inside an S hook for safely fitting the light to the ceiling. The chrome frame and all the glass cylinder shades are in perfect condition. All the glass pieces can be removed and individually wrapped so this piece can be safely packed in a box.
The total height including the frame & bar is 66 cm.
The height of the frame alone without the bar is 43 cm.
The diameter of each glass shade is 9 cm.
