Sciolari brass chandelier with 38 crystal shards, 12 lights ,1970`s ca, Italy.

In this modernist design Gaetano Sciolari adapted a two tiered pendant chandelier with optical shades to create a sculpture like a transparent Doric column. The golden brass frame subtly glows from behind the crystals to creating depth to this piece. This vintage chandelier would be a glamorous addition to a classically decorated room as well as Art Deco, Modernist, Minimalist or an industrial setting. The structure consists of a central brass column around which there are two tiers. The top tier has 22 crystal shards and the bottom tier has 16; making a total of 38 crystal shards. Each shade has an optical pattern particular to Sciolari designs. The crystal shades are securely held in place with a brass screw. Carries 6 standard small screw light bulbs (E14) up to 40 Watts each. At the top, 3 light bulbs are facing outwards behind the crystal shards while below 3 lights face up nicely finishing the view from the bottom. The brass chain can be shorten or replaced with a longer one. At the top of the chain there is the original brass ceiling cup which has inside a hook to fit the chandelier to the ceiling. For safe transport, the chain folds down and each crystal shard can be individually wrapped so the piece fits inside a box. Newly rewired, in full working order and ready to use. The crystal shards are in excellent condition with the exception of a tiny chip on one shade as photographed; this is not noticeable when it is on the frame. The metal frame is in good condition with a warm patina & texture in line with age which gives character to the piece. We have also available in stock the matching set of vintage Sciolari wall lights: (item code 10673).

Height of only the frame (without the chain): 39 cm.

The chain has a length of 39 cm.

The dimensions of each glass shade: Height: 25 cm & Width: 3.5 cm.

Gaetano Sciolari Biography

While Sciolari Lighting has been around since 1892, it was their most famous offspring Gaetano Sciolari who went on to design for Italian manufacturer Stilnovo in the 1950’s. Read more on our Blog about Gaetano Sciolari Lighting.
