Large vintage circular Lucite illuminated wall mirror, 1970`s ca, by Schock Design, Germany. Large vintage illuminated wall mirrors like this one are rare. It has a strong presence in terms of size and decorative effect. It consists of a clear round sculptural & textured Perspex /Lucite frame simulating ice which surrounds a silver mirror. The mirror frame has at the back a metal plate to be hooked onto the wall. The Lucite frame nicely covers the light bulbs hiding them when this piece is viewed from the front & side. String pull switch with four different settings to create a range of lighting effects: all ten lights on, either set of five lights on, or all ten lights off. Carries ten standard small screw light bulbs up to 40 Watts each. The original maker`s label is on the back of the frame. The original 70`s mirror surface and the Lucite frame have a nice patina consistent with age and are in very good condition with no scratches or chips. There is only one minor wear in front of one of the bulbs inside the frame, not noticeable from outside. Rewired and in full working order.
The total diameter of the frame is 74.5 cm, and the diameter of the mirror surface alone is 52 cm
Mirrors are the ultimate accessory as the silver surface reflects surrounding colour and essentially `goes with everything`. Originally intended for bathrooms these mirrors are popular in a range of rooms at home, restaurants, clubs and shops. The back lighting is very flattering like the vintage dressing mirrors of the Hollywood era. Many customers report back that with the heat from the lights, these mirror cleverly resist `steaming up`. The Lucite is light, easy on the wall and a breeze to install.
