Pier Luigi Colli (attributed) vintage large coffee table, 1950`s ca, Italy. This stunning two tier coffee table is exemplary of exceptional Italian craftsmanship. The elegant solid brass frame consists of four arched legs screwed to a rectangular brass shelf and finished with solid brass balls. The frame supports a 2 cm thick hand chiseled glass rectangular top. The contemporary glass top has been carved and chiseled by hand, creating an irregular edge which matches the original glass top in design and shape. The glass shelf has the same thickness but with polished smooth edges. This coffee table has grand elegant proportions and is in very good condition, with the attractive original antique patina on the brass frame. The brass frame disassembles for transport.

The brass frame alone without the glass on top has a height of 50 cm, width of 133 cm and depth of 72 cm.
The glass shelf is  28.5 cm from the floor. The distance from the glass shelf to the glass table top is 21.5 cm.

Pier Luigi Colli (1895-1968) studied in Paris and returned to Italy to lead the family furniture business, which had been in operation since 1850.  Influenced by the Parisian style, he interpreted this within his designs.  Colli`s combination of materials such as iron, brass, glass & wood, worked by local Italian craftsmen, exemplified the Neo-Liberty movement.  The Colli company collaborated with important architects such as Gio Ponti, Giovanni Gariboldi, Carlo Mollino, Domenico Morelli, Gabetti and Isola.  The company had branches in Rome & Milan and closed in the 1980`s making these pieces very rare.
