Palm Tree Floor Lamp by Arturo Pani, 1970`s ca, Mexican. Research on the internet suggests this lamp might also be by  Antonio Pavia.

Thoroughly cleaned respecting the antique patina, newly rewired & ready to install.

This floor lamp is perhaps the most whimsical of all the wonderful designs by Arturo Pani. It is characteristic of the Post-Modern period and interiors fascination with tropical plants at the same time.

The curve of the stems allow for a wide angle of illumination and the ‘fronds’ of silk fabric diffuse the light softly making this also a strong sculptural piece. This floor lamp would suit a range of design schemes including Art Deco, 1950`s, 1970`s, Hollywood Regency and Contemporary.

The sculptural frame consists of 3 reeds in a dark brown/wine colour lacquered metal. These reeds have decorative brass detailing representing the nodes of the reed. At the end the reed is finished with a pointed brass detail which flows to the fabric shade. Each fabric shade has a sculptural skeleton covered on both sides with silk. There is dark crème fabric on the outside and a lighter version on the inside to reflect the light. Each shade has a brass lacquered trim.

Behind the shade there is a decorative highly polished brass lamp holder connected to the reed. The lamp shade sits on a decorative conic brass detail at the end of the arm, just above the shade, creating a naturalistic detail and securing each shade in place. The shade is screwed in place with a ring to the brass lamp holder.

At the bottom, the stems emerge from a round polished brass base, with a curved edge. This base is very stable.

This vintage floor lamp takes 3 standard E14 small screw light bulbs up to 40 Watts. Presently fitted & photographed with Pygmy light bulbs 15 Watts which are included in the price. This type of light bulb is available in any electrical shops or online. Alternatively it is possible to use other E 14 light bulb shapes. There is a floor switch on the cable.

Newly rewired with new brass lamp holders and plug.

The original vintage fabric shades are all in good condition including the trim, with only a few marks on the silk fabric in line with age but no damages.

The tubular reeds are in good condition with a few tiny surface marks. The brass base is original with age related patina but no dents.

The arms can be adjusted for a maximum width of 100 cm.

The diameter of the brass base is 32 cm.
