Pair of large verdigris bronze wall lights/sconces with twin arms, in the Neoclassical style possibly by Maison Bagues, 1970`s ca, French.

These wall lights have been gently cleaned while respecting the vintage patina. They are newly rewired & earthed, PAT tested by an electrician and ready to install. Each has the following new components: two E14 lamp holders with card covers, and two clip-on lampshades. These lights can be used with a dimmer. It is possible to use these sconces in other countries although it may be necessary to purchase different light bulbs suitable to local electricity.

These large sconces could be from Maison Bagues of Paris as they have several design similarities. The Neoclassical form has been given a Modern twist cast in solid bronze and finished with gilt & verdigris. This smart design would suit a range of interiors such as Antique, Art Deco, Hollywood Regency, Traditional, or Contemporary.

The frames are quality cast with a good weight. Each frame is composed of a cartouche base with geometric lines.

From the base there are two arms, starting in right angles but later curving with foliate decoration. The arms are finished with a round trumpet bobeche & beaded trim. At the end of each are the new lamp holders with new cream colour card covers.

The top & bottom portions of the base are finished with a stepped pattern. At the top of the base there is a large decorative ring. The bottom of the base finishes to a point.

At the back of the base, each light has a horizontal bracket to attach to the wall

The sconces are finished with quality new clip-on cream silk candle lampshades. The shade is tapered and has wide pleat detailing, complete with a crepe trim top and bottom. It is lined in the same colour which enhances the glow of light. These four shades are included in the price.

These wall lights could also be displayed without the shades for a more traditional look (as photographed).

Each wall light carries 2 standard small screw light bulbs (E14) up to 40 Watts. At present these lights are fitted & photographed with Candle clear shaped light bulbs of 25 Watts. These are included in the price. It would be possible to use other (E14) light bulbs.

Both sconces are in very good vintage condition. The frames are sound with no damages or broken parts. The vintage patina has been preserved. The verdigris finish is in good condition, with a warm patina & minor tiny marks & rubbing in line with age & wear. The 4 lampshades are new and in very good condition.
