Pair Lennart Bender vintage Poltrona armchairs, reupholstered, 1970`s ca, Sweden. These Poltrona armchairs have all the features of Pop Art furniture: a space shaped fiberglass molded white base with dimpled over-sized cushion. This pair have been newly reupholstered in a burgundy nylon fabric. Both armchairs are very in good condition, with some patina on the fiberglass bases consistent with age. There is a slight variation in colour between the bases, one armchair`s base is slightly warmer. Good comfortable armchairs. The pair sell together. The price is for the pair.
Swedish designer Lennart Bender is widely known for his "Corona" range sofa & armchairs, produced between 1959-1961 by Ulferts Mobler. In the middle 60`s he designed also numerous teak pieces for Ary Stalmobler, all following the organic and simple lines of a more traditional Midcentury Scandinavian Design. These pair of Poltrona armchairs are a change in direction, reflecting the Pop Age spirit of the late 60`s and early 70`s, together with the need in designers to explore new forms & materials.
