Pair of antique Belle Époque twin arm sconces/wall lights by LB Deposé Leboullanger Freres Paris, gold plated gilt bronze, 1900 ca, French.

This pair of antique wall lights have been gently cleaned respecting the aged patina. Both are newly rewired, earthed, PAT tested by an electrician and ready to install. They have new lamp holders with covers and finished with new lampshades. They can be used with a dimmer. It is possible to use these lights in other countries although it may be necessary to purchase different light bulbs suitable to local electricity.

These wall lights are a good example of the Eclecticism of the Parisian Belle Epoque style. It is characterised by the exuberant combination of Rococo & Neoclassical design features seen here in the classic tapering body, elongated scrolling arms & laurel leaf decoration. Both are stamped on the back: "15415 LB DEPOSE". These sconces would suit a range of interiors such as Antique, Traditional, Hollywood Regency & Country.

On each sconce two reeded scrolling arms with circular bobeche drip pans emerge in slight angle forward from a decorative Neoclassical & Rococo laurel leaf tapering backplate with pierced finial. The bottom of the drip pans have a delicate classic Leboullanger Freres decoration pattern of the period, similar to decorations also found in other hanging lights. The frames are in gilt bronze with a quality crisp casting.

The new lamp holders sit on the bobeches and are covered with removable cream card candle tubes which are new.

Each light is finished with a removable new clip-on black silk lampshade, finished with fabric trim and metallic gold lining. Alternatively these sconces could be installed without the shades for a traditional look.

The frames have 3 holes plus a hook on the backside to be fitted to the wall. The bottom of the frame has a foliate finial motif.

Each wall light carries 2 standard small screw light bulbs (E14) up to 40 Watts. At present these lights are fitted & photographed with Candle clear shaped light bulbs of 28 Watts. These are included in the price. It is possible to use other E14 Candle light bulbs.

Both antique sconces are in very good condition. The frames are sound with no damages. The original antique patina has been preserved adding character. Minor superficial tiny marks and rubbing to the gilt in line with age & wear. The lampshades are new and in very good condition.

These lights sell together as a pair, the price featured here is for the pair.
