Pace Collection console table (attributed to Leon Rosen), glass and gilded bronze console table, 1970`s ca, USA. This Pace table is an early piece and features a clever combination of glass and gilded bronze to create an elegant modernist look. The
metal junctions of solid gilded bronze have developed a warm patina over time which makes this console unique and full of character & texture. This piece could suit a range of interiors such as Traditional Antique, Art Deco, Minimalist & Industrial.
The original quality smoked glass top sits on a base consisting of 7 intersecting panes of glass, all original. T
he panes, which are all removable, are held together by
vertical solid metal junctions in gilt bronze. Over time the bronze has developed a warm patina with some wear which adds character. The original panes of glass have some wear consistent with age, such as superficial scratches on the surfaces & five minor chips.
The thickness of the glass is 1.2 cm.
Leon Rosen Pace Collection - The Pace Collection was founded by Irving and Leon Rosen in Manhattan in the 1970`s. Leon Rosen furniture was distinctly different from others; distinguished by the unique style employing rich, exotic wood veneers, high-gloss finishes with polished metal trim. In 1985, the Rosen partnership ended and Leon Rosen commissioned New York architect Steven Holl to design a new showroom which received the American Institute of Architects award for best architectural design. Holl contributed to designing Pace furniture until it closed in 2001.
