Mazzega chandelier, Murano glass chandelier, 1970`s ca, Italy. This Mazzega Murano glass chandelier is an original vintage piece making it quite rare, as there are many new versions around. Particularly textured glass discs like these are not produced today. The composition is a very large sculpture of 64 glass shades on the original chrome metal frame. The quality shades are in two colours; clear and a mixed caramel & clear. Each hand-blown glass shade has a texturized surface and organic shape which together creates a lightness & a sense of movement while beautifully reflecting the light. The frame has 24 arms at different heights and diameters, creating depth. Each arm finishes in a hook for the first shade. The rest of the shades can be attached by a removable chrome ring. This allows the colour pattern & shape to be modified. Carries 7 standard screw light bulbs up to 40 Watts each. The decorative original chrome ceiling cup finishes the chain at the top. The chain can be shortened or lengthened for different lengths as well as tucked away for easy transport in a box. All the glass shades are in perfect condition. The chrome frame is in good condition with only some minor wear to the chrome consistent with age which gives character. Newly rewired and in full working order.
The total height with shades varies according to the final composition but could reach well over 100 cm.
Dimensions of the frame only (without the chain or discs) are Height 45 cm, Width 40 cm, Depth 40 cm
The dimensions of each glass disc is Height 20 cm, Width 15 cm
