Maison Bagues style wall lights, a pair in silver plated faux bamboo,1970`s ca, French

These wall lights have been gently cleaned while respecting the vintage patina. They are newly rewired & earthed, PAT tested by an electrician, fully working and ready to install. Each sconce has new lamp holders & covers, and finished with new lampshades.  Light bulbs are included. These lights can be used with a dimmer. It is possible to use these lights in other countries although it may be necessary to purchase different light bulbs suitable to local electricity.

The Naturalistic bamboo effect, together with Neoclassical & Modernist features executed in silver plated on solid brass, suggest these sconces could be from Maison Bagues of Paris, the attributed designer.

These quality cast twin arm wall lights have a Modernist design twist to the traditional faux bamboo & foliate antique sconce with the use of pointed concave star shapes.

The combination of the Neoclassical form, with the faux bamboo detailing, and the geometric shapes make the design unique. With these features they would suit a range of interiors such as Antique, Art Deco, Hollywood Regency, Traditional, or Contemporary.

Each frame is composed of a twelve pointed concave star shape base, in a silver plated finish.  It  can be securely screwed flat to the wall by 2 holes. There  is a push button switch that allows these wall lights to be turned on & off either from this base or from the general switch on the wall.

From the center protrude one short arm, vertical to the base, leading to the main horizontal arm that holds two columns with the lampholders. All the arms are quality cast in textured faux bamboo tubular segments with a silver plated finish. The intersections are decorated with a faux rope effect.

At the top end of each column there is a ten pointed concave star shape bobeche, matching the design of the base that attaches to the wall.  On top there is a silver plated candle cup supporting the lampholder, which is covered by a removable new cream card candle tube. Under the bobeche there is a decorative long faux bamboo stem that balances the design.

The frames are silver plated on solid brass, quality cast and have a good weight. The silver finish has a warm tone as the vintage patina on them has been preserved adding depth & character.

The sconces are finished with a new clip-on grey silk lampshade. This is lined metallic. The four shades are included in the price.

These wall lights could be used also without the shades for a more traditional look (as photographed).

Each wall light carries 2 standard small screw light bulbs (E14) up to 40 Watts. At present these lights are fitted & photographed with Candle clear shaped light bulbs of 28 Watts. These are included in the price. It is possible to use other E14 light bulbs.

Both sconces are in very good condition. The frames are sound. The silver finish is in good condition, with a light warm patina and minor rubbing in places in line with age.  The lampshades are new and in very good condition.
