Luigi Saccardo design dining table for Arrmet, 1970`s Italy. This elegant 1970īs dining table consists of a sculptural base constructed from a pair of weighted stainless steel semicircles bolted together. On top sits the original vintage quality oval shaped glass top which has a thickness of 2.0 cm. The striking feature of this design is in the center of the glass top there is a silver mirror surface in the same shape of the metal base. This creates the illusion that the base continues onto the top of the table. The reflective surfaces create a tridimensional effect. The elliptical glass top is particularly long & narrow which together with the pedestal base, allows to seat 8 people comfortably. The steady stainless steel base is finished at the top & bottom with rubber trims which adds solidity to the piece to avoid movement. The glass top is in very good vintage condition with no chips or major scratches and only minor signs of wear consistent with age. The base is in very good condition with only minor signs of wear giving character to the piece. The table comes easily apart for transport.

The dimensions of the base are Height 71 cm, Width 62.5 cm, Depth 66.5 cm

Luigi Saccardo designed home furnishings for Maison Jansen, Pierre Cardin, Arrmet and other important French and Italian design houses.
Arrmet was created in Italy in the 1960īs, producing tubular steel metal chairs in a world of traditional wooden chairs. At the time, stainless steel had been little used in interior design and Arrmet designs, particularly chairs and tables, were welcomed for their futuristic & hygienic look. The company aimed to create quality products which could be produced at an industrial level.
