Large statement French Avant Garde Couture brooch pin in the shape of a bouquet of oak leaves with translucent resin acorn accents by Kalinger Paris, circa 1980`s, in a modernist baroque inspired style.
Catherine and Laurent Martinez founded the Kallinger Jewellery brand in 1986 and registered the logo in 1990, so probably this unsigned piece is an early example.
Kalinger was a tiny chic boutique in the 8th Arrondissement of Paris. Their jewellery is very wearable and collectible today, and hard to find.
This gorgeous brooch encapsulates the "Kalinger French Style":
massive appearance, large size, combination of a gold gilt finish with translucent resin in a baroque style with a modernist twist.
In this case the design motif consists of three oak leaves & two acorns knotted together by rope. Quality casting in
gold plated coated resin
showing
great texture & depth. The acorns are made of translucent resin in an Amber tone.
On the back of the piece there is a quality telescopic clasp attached to the Kalinger round central plate logo, in this case unsigned.
This pin is in very good vintage condition with no damages. The gold plated & resin surfaces are in very good condition with no chips.
A warm vintage patina is present in line with age & wear. The clasp is in full working order.

KALINGER PARIS JEWELLERY HISTORY
The French Kalinger Costume Jewellery brand started in 1986, with a small workshop founded by the couple Catherine and Laurent Martinez, as a family business. A small boutique opened in Paris, at 28 rue des Archives, in the Le Marais district. In 1990 the Martinez officially registered their Kalinger Jewellery brand. The designers created the jewellery in a typical French Baroque `Avant Garde` style: massive appearance, large size, Byzantine inspiration, a combination of plastic, glass and metal with the effect of `wrinkled` gold and gilding with translucent resins & stones. Kalinger closed in 1997.
Handcrafted Haute Couture jewellery, very striking & eye catching designs combined with high quality materials and workmanship make these pieces highly collectible today.
