This unique 1940`s wall mirror with a border of tole metal roses is dramatic & decorative. It is a modernist reinterpretation of the classic Baroque floral mirror. It would suit a range of interior schemes such as Art Deco, Hollywood Regency,Traditional, Contemporary, or Industrial.
The mirror frame has a neoclassical rectangular shape. At the top of the frame, from a concave ribbed shell emerges 2 stems of roses symmetrically at either side, each has 2 flowers.
In each corner there is a large Neo-classical foliage from which travel downwards a stem with 2 roses. At the bottom 2 stems or roses reach outwards from the centre of the mirror. The roses, stems & leaves are handmade with quality naturalistic detail.
The frame has an outer geometric ribbed trim which is repeated on the inner frame. This detail gives a sense of modernity. The outer trim also has portions of convex & concave curving with scalloped edges. These decorative details add depth to the design.
The background of the frame has a subtle texture. The quality frame is metal with a textured gilt finish. The metal nail heads within the background give this piece an Industrial feel.
The silver mirror surface is the original and beveled which is another sign of quality. Interestingly it slides in & out at the back. The back has a black metal cover with a handle to lift it.
Also at the back there is the original metal chain to hang this mirror to the wall.
This antique wall mirror is in excellent condition, with all the flowers & leaves present. The mirror surface is in excellent condition with minor age patina as expected adding character, but no chips, scratches or cracks.
Packing is offered free of charge. For safe transport the mirror would be wrapped separately from the frame both in bubble wrap with an outer layer of card.
