Vidal was a master of playing with textures and design,most famously in his Modernist abstract designs in the Brutalist style of the period.
This scupltural vintage necklace features a starburst full of depth and texture, complex surfaces and beautifully quality cast with lots of detail.
It is made of pewter with silver gilt.
The original Guy Vidal vintage chain to the piece is present and included in the price.
The designer name "VIDAL" & logo is stamped on the back of the pendant. Hallmarked using Vidal`s "3 V Vidal" logo, this dates it to 1973-78.
The clasp is also marked "VIDAL" on one side & the Patent Number 3427691 on the other side.

This vintage necklace is in very good condition. The pendant is in very good condition with no damages and has a light patina on the surfaces in line with age & wear. The chain is complete and in very good condition, with the clasp in full working order.

Guy (Gilles) Vidal (France/Canada 1939-2002)
Born in Saint-Hyacinthe, Quebec, Vidal attended l`École des Beaux-Arts de Montréal and completed his Masters in Fine Arts at the University of Bloomington, Indiana in 1962. Initially trained in sculpture and ceramics, he made his first forays into jewelry design in 1964,
making a statement as a jewellery designer particularly in Canada in the 1960-70`s with his handcrafted, deconstructed yet constructed designs in pewter and other metals & stones. Known worldwide for his brutalist and modernist designs.
A true Canadian master at sculptural pieces of wearable art, his work contains depth, texture and stunning stylized design. Often regarded as the best of the Canadian Modernist Jewellery Designers of the 1960-70`s.
A true work of wearable Modernist Art.
Examples of Vidal’s work in the Brutalist style are very fashionable today and highly sought after. He and Robert Larin are two Canadian jewelry designers who worked in similar metal and had similar designs during the 1960`s and 1970`s.
