Gilt tole sconce, 1½ metres wide, 1950`s Italy. Very large Italian quality gilt iron tole sconce in leaf & vine form. Spanning over a 1½ metres, this very large decorative sconce makes an ideal feature piece for a traditional or contemporary interior, perhaps over a sofa, fireplace, bed or any wall. The frame consist of 7 branches spreading in a sun pattern over the wall. On the frame, the leaves form trifoliate forms like tulips ( 9 in total,3 on the main centre branch and 1 on each lateral branch). The wall piece is illuminated by 9 lights discretely from behind, casting a gentle light with a warm tone from the gold gilt. Takes 9 standard small screw light bulbs up to 40 Watts each. Presently fitted with Pygmy light bulbs 15 Watts, but could also take candle light bulbs for a different look. The solid frame very easy screwes to the wall by two metal rings. At the bottom of the bouquet there is a decorative circular compartment with the hidden electric cables. This allows a discrete connection to the wall. Alternatively it could also work with a cable plug into a wall socket. Very good condition with the original antique patina adding character. Rewired, in full working order and ready to use.
