Gilbert Poillerat coffee table (in the style of), iron & bronze mirror, 1950’s ca, French.
This particularly long mid 20th Century coffee table has quality hand wrought iron with a gilt patination and is similar to the designs of Gilbert Poillerat. The Neoclassical frame features `twisted iron` decoration (a feature of Poillerat`s work) surrounding the rectangular top. A similar twisted decorative detail but in a larger size, below on the middle of the stretcher, adds fluidity to the design. Very solid frame with an additional texture work on the iron creating depth and contrast with the gilt finish. The legs are finished with a flat tassel shape at the bottom. On top of the frame sits a contemporary bronze mirror. This table would compliment a Traditional, Art Deco or Modernist interior. In very good condition with nice age related patina on the frame which adds character. The top can be separated from the base for easy transport.
