Emil Stejnar

Added 03 September 2012 at 15:52

When Emil Stejnar was given the decorating job in 1955 of the `Ohne Pause Cafe`, this was his 50`s twist on the traditional cafe globe light.

Austrian Architect Stejnar, designed this as part of his complete interior design of the Viennese Cafe. The `Ohne Pause Cafe`, translated as the non-stop cafe, served up coffee to locals in the city centre. Twenty-five years ago the cafe changed hands and the original furnishings were sold off.

Stejnar`s re-interpreted the traditional café globe with a playful 50‘s look. Sparkle, glamour and futurism influenced his design. The distinctive shape has been described by titles such as Sputnik, Snowball or Pyra.

This chandelier was produced by Rupert Nikoll which was one of Austria’s leading lighting makers before turning out the lights in the 80’s.

The Nikoll lighting company won the 1964 lighting award from the International Forum Design Hannover. Quality sparkles from each Swarovski crystal on this chandelier.
