DeMott boat sculptures, set of 4, brass on onyx or wood base, 1970`s ca, American.

These 4 vintage sculptures have been gently cleaned while respecting the aged patina.

John and his brother Don DeMott were discovered by Macy’s Department Store in the 1970’s. Their nautical themed sculptures became hugely popular in Interior Decoration representing the Brutalist tone & free spirit of the period. Known for their s imple & modern designs made of honest materials such as quality solid brass, copper, steel, onyx & manzanita burlwood.

Three of the boat sculptures are on onyx and one is on manzanita burlwood. Each is a brass boat with acid treated edging & lacquered. Rising there is a mast suspending the main sail also of brass. Two sculptures have secondary sails and two have a seagull flying at the top. Each has a flag at the top.

Three sculptures are signed `Demott` on the base; the tallest is not signed.

This set of 4 boat sculptures is in very good condition. The two smaller sculptures are in excellent condition. The tallest boat and the boat on wood have minor rubbing to the original lacquer to the brass exposing the metal to some tarnishing. The burlwood base has rubbing in line with age.

This set of four boat sculptures sell together and the price is for the set of four.

Packing is offered free of charge. We take special professional care while packing. For safe transport each sculpture would be packed separated. The parts would be bubble wrapped and boxed. This set of sculptures could easily be posted in the mail.
