Chromcraft table, oval smoked glass top on an aluminium & acrylic pedestal base, 1970`s ca, American.

This dining table has been gently cleaned while respecting the vintage patina and is ready to use.

Part of the Marquise dining set this table was introduced by Chromcraft in the early 1970s and inspired by Eero Saarinen`s Tulip table for Knoll. An iconic shape of the 70`s, the materials keep this piece timeless and sophisticated. Modernist but classic & elegant lines, this piece would also suit a range of decors including Art Deco, Modernist, 70`s Glamour, Post Modern, Industrial & Contemporary.

The design is light & futuristic, with organic curving lines and movement. It has been realised in dark moody tones of black, grey, silver aluminum; the smoked glass has a chic colour of teal-grey.

The tulip pedestal consists of three portions: a base, a column & glass top. At the bottom there is a molded transparent acrylic pod in a shade of grey. This gently curves upwards into the column of polished aluminum. This column rises to a flat oval platform coated in textured laminate on which rests the glass top. The glass top is held in place by its weight and the textured laminate underneath. When looked from above the pedestal base with its platform can be seen through the glass creating depth and futuristic shapes.

The oval glass top is the original and has a thickness of 10 mm. It can be easily removed for transport & cleaning.

This dining table sits very comfortably 6 people.

The table is in very good condition. The base is sound, with a nice patina on the metal developed over the years adding character. The glass top is in very good condition. There are no chips or cracks, only minor marks in line with age & wear.

Packing is offered free of charge. We take special professional care while packing. The glass top would be removed and wrapped separately in bubble wrap & an outer layer of card. The frame would have bubble wrap and an outer layer of card. This table could be easily be transported by a shipping company or Fedex Freight.

Additional dimensions:

The base alone (without the glass top) has the following dimensions: Height: 71 cm, Width: 91.5 cm, Depth: 55.5 cm.

Chromcraft Corporation History

Chromcraft Corporation had its beginning at St. Louis, Missouri, USA, in 1908. It was originally known as American Fixture and Showcase Company. The typical tradition of ingenuity and ambition carried this newly founded company through various stages of expansion from a humble beginning to a well operating corporation. The continued growth of the Chromcraft Corporation created a need for further expansion, and in 1961, the company built a 250,000 square foot furniture factory in Senatobia, Mississippi.
