Brass wall lights, set of seven in the Neoclassical style, 1950`s ca, English
These wall lights have been gently cleaned while respecting the vintage patina. They are newly rewired & earthed, fully working, PAT tested by an electrician and ready to install. Each has new lamp holders & covers and new lampshades. Light bulbs are included. These lights can be use with a dimmer. It is possible to use these lights in other countries although it may be necessary to purchase different light bulbs suitable to local electricity.

These vintage wall lights are in the Neoclassical style reflecting classic designs and traditional English foundry techniques. Key design features are the classic amphora body, scrolling leaf arms & geometric hexagonal motif. This design would suit a range of interiors such as Antique, Traditional, Hollywood Regency & Country.
Each frame in solid polished brass has a bulbous, amphora type backplate with two leaf scrolling arms.
The hexagonal geometric theme is subtly repeated in the overall design.
The arms are quality cast and with attention to detail. The front portion of each arm is of hexagonal section finishing with a hexagonal bobeche drip pan leading to a lampholder. The new lampholders are covered with removable new cream candle tubes.
Each light is finished with a removable new clip-on black silk lampshade with trim and metallic gold lining.
The central portion of each frame has a Neoclassical influence with the amphora theme, subtle repeating in half the hexagonal shape of the arms & bobeches.
Each frame has two holes to fit the light to the wall.
Each wall light carries 2 standard small screw light bulbs (E14) up to 40 Watts. At present these lights are fitted & photographed with Candle clear shaped light bulbs of 28 Watts. These are included in the price. It is possible to use other E14 Candle light bulbs.
All seven vintage sconces are in very good condition. The frames are sound. The brass surfaces are in very good condition with the original clear lacquer present. There is a light warm patina present with minor superficial marks in line with age & wear. The 14 lampshades are new and in very good condition.

The dimensions of the frame alone (without the lampshades) is: Height: 33 cm, Width: 40 cm, Depth: 22 cm.
The lampshade alone has the following dimensions: Height: 9.5 cm, Diameter at the bottom: 14 cm, Diameter at the top: 7 cm.
Packing is offered free of charge. We take special professional care with packing. For safe transport the shades will be wrapped separately in bubble wrap and an outer layer of card. These will be stacked together. The frames will be wrapped similarly. Together these pieces would easily fit into a box with loose fill packing suitable for posting with a courier.

UK BRASS FOUNDRY HISTORY
England is world famous for its historical production of brass. During the industrial revolution brass foundries in the Birmingham area were key to the Midlands prosperity and intercity connections. Birmingham was both close to the natural resources needed as well as the other industries which used metals. Brass was used for endless items which in turned supported design & technology . The intense production expertise made Birmingham world renowned for metal production. It is no surprise that it was also here that the Arts & Crafts Movement had a major role and contributed to the Birmingham School of Art. Towards the late 20th Century, brass foundries manufactured homewares to cope with the shift in industrial manufacturing and in response to the national interest in home decorating. Sadly more recently many of these foundries producing handcraft quality items have closed, unable to compete with the economic forces and cheap imports from abroad.
