Boucher poodle brooch, Mother of Pearl , 1950`s ca, American.

Poodle pins like this one by Boucher were iconic fashion items of the 1950`s. In this design mother of pearl discs create a sculptural three dimensional affect.

The mother of pearl discs are securely set in clasps covering the poodle`s torso, legs & head.  There is gold plated gilt swirls on his ears, muzzle, and tail detailed with black lacquer on the nose & eyes.

The back is gold plated gilt skeletal structure which allows light to pass through the translucent mother of pearl. On the back it is stamped ` Boucher`. This design was in production 1950-1955. This piece is featured in the book `Costume Jewelry the fun of collecting`.

In good condition. All the mother of pearl discs are in tact with no chips or cracks. There is minor rubbing to the gold gilt and to the black lacquer at the tip of the nose as  accepted for this age. The pin on the back works well .
