Bernard Chaudron brooch signed, enamel on bronze, 1960’s ca, Canadian.

Chaudron`s jewelry is very rare, only creating his jewelry in his early career. Most of his designs are abstract/geometric but occasionally he would create figural pieces. He produced jewellery primarily in bronze between the 1960`s & 70`s. His epoxy/enamel work often glows in certain light. His work is uniquely different but comparable to the other great Canadian Brutalists such as Larin, Vidal and Alfandary.

This brooch is quality cast bronze. The Brutalist `cartouche` shape was fired a second time with blue enamel and gold plated gilt.

The reverse side is also textured and engraved `Bernard Chaudron`.

New gift box included.

This brooch is in good vintage conditon with working clasp. There is minor rubbing on the back to the gilt exposing the bronze underneath which gives this piece authenticity.

Packing is offered free of charge.

BERNARD CHAUDRON HISTORY

Bernard Chaudron was b orn in 1931, Lille, France. He began his professional life in the agricultural sector before discovering his calling. Initially set up his workshop in Montreal and later opening a studio in Val-David. He worked with gold, bronze, sterling silver & pewter using the lost wax process. Aside from creating some of the most spectacular works coming from Quebec at that time, he involved his wife Louise Chaudron, who was an enamelist, in the Arts & Crafts Association in Quebec. His works can be found in museums & private collections. Today the family business now nearly 60 years old specialises in pewter and led by son Antoine Chaudron.
