The canine theme with realistic depiction is kept elegant and soft with the gilt & onyx. This light would work well as a side lamp on a table, desk, or shelf. It would suit a range of interiors such as Antique, Country, Traditional, Hollywood Regency, Art Deco, or Contemporary.
The composition is simple but effective: a quality cast figurine of a golden retriever lays sideways, holding a tray in the mouth that works as a pen holder. The dog lays on a rectangular polished onyx base and positioned in front of the gilt metal column which leads to the lamp holder.
The quality casting is in gilt bronze and has accurate detail & texture, complemented by the texture & colour of the stone base.
From the back the figurine is as well detailed as the front. The silk cable comes from a discrete hole in the back of the onyx base.
From the back of the figurine rises a tubular vertical rod leading to the lamp holder & the shade support.
A decorative brass washer makes the transition to the lamp holder.
The gilt metal shade support starts under the lamp holder and rises with decorative curves to the top. It finishes with a removable decorative finial to screw the shade on.
The vintage shade is the original: brown silk

The lamp holder has a new brass metal cover that adds a golden tone to the design.
This lamp carries one standard small screw light bulb E14 up to 60 Watts. At present fitted with a Candle Clear light bulb of 40 Watts, as photographed, which is included in the price. This lamp could take other types of E14 light bulbs.
At the bottom of the base there is new black felt to protect the furniture when in place.
This vintage lamp is in very good condition. There is a warm antique patina present on the metal figurine & frame. The onyx base is sound with no cracks and only a couple of tiny nibbles on the edge in line with age. The shade is sound with no cuts and only minor marks & superficial wear in line with age.
Packing is offered free of charge. We take special professional care with packing. For safe transport the shade will be wrapped separately in bubble wrap and an outer layer of card. The base will also be wrapped separately in bubble wrap & card. Together these pieces would easily fit into a box with loose fill packing suitable for posting with a courier.
