Art Deco demilune sconces/wall lights by Berry`s Electric Limited London, glass & gilt metal, a pair, 1930`s ca, English.

This pair of vintage wall lights has been thoroughly cleaned while respecting the aged patina. They are newly rewired, earthed, PAT tested by an electrician, fully working and ready to install. Each has a new porcelain & brass lamp holder. It is possible to install these lights in other countries although it may be necessary to purchase different light bulbs suitable to local electricity. They can be used with a dimmer.

This pair of vintage Art Deco sconces was made by Berry`s Electric Limited of London, England. Each sconce is signed & numbered, with the original maker`s metal stamp still attached to the 2 backplates.

They have several design features typical of 1930`s Art Deco: the Modernist design concept, repetitive geometric lines, elegant proportions and use of quality materials: glass, gilt metal & gilt wood.

This design is classic, timeless and decorative. With the subtle tones and simple geometric shape it would suit a range of interiors such as Antique, Art Deco, Traditional, Hollywood Regency, Post Modern, Industrial or Contemporary.

The composition of each light consists of a demilune removable glass shade attached to a metal base flush to the wall and finished with a gilt wood conical finial at the bottom.

The glass shade is of great quality with a polished gloss finish on the outside & a textured frosted finish on the inside to diffuse the light. An elegant cast swirling pattern covers all the shade but is divided in two areas of different colour: a bottom one in amber & beige tones, and a top band in clear. The latter surrounded by lines of brown enamel paint. The colour tones vary slightly between the lights.

Each shade has 4 holes to be secured safely to the backplate: two holes at either side with a screw & decorative round gilt metal nut that screw to an arm attached to the backplate, and two holes at the bottom with screws to the gilt wooden finials. There are clear rubber washers to protect the glass.

The new porcelain & brass lamp holder sits inside the glass shade and carries a small standard screw light bulb E14 up to 60 Watts each. At present fitted with Candle clear light bulbs of 25 Watts (as photographed), included in the price. These lights could take other bulb shapes for a different look.

On each backplate there are two holes to fit the light to the wall.

The stepped wooden finials are in gilt wood.

The price here is for the pair sold together.

This pair of lights is in very good vintage condition, with the age patina preserved. The 2 glass shades are free of chips or cracks with only minor age related wear & tiny marks. The gilt wood surfaces & metal frames have minor marks & some age related patina.

There is a matching sconce available to make a set of 3 lights, the set of 3 lights together is advertised on this site as item # 11257.

Packing is offered free of charge. We take special professional care while packing. For safe transport the sconces would be wrapped in bubble wrap, foam and an outer layer of card. Together they would easily fit into a box with loose fill packing nuts, safe for posting with a courier. We ship with reliable couriers (signed for, tracked & insured).
