Art Deco bronze moose lamp with an ashtray & matchbox holder in the manner of Louis-Albert Carvin, 1930`s ca, French.

This lamp has been gently cleaned while respecting the aged patina. It has been newly rewired and PAT tested by an electrician. It has new gold tone silk cable, new black cord switch and new black plug. It is possible to use this lamp in other countries with a light bulb suitable to local electricity. It can be used with a dimmer.

This sculptural antique lamp is a good example of the figurative lamps from the Art Deco period. It has a bronze sculpted animal in the manner of French artist Louis Albert Carvin.

The appealing wildlife theme in quality bronze casting make this lamp a striking addition to a desk or corridor. The smoker`s ashtray with matchbox holder was an innovative novelty item during the Deco period. This lamp would suit a range of interiors such as Art Deco, Country, Traditional, Contemporary or Industrial.

This lamp has several components: the base with the moose, ashtray & matchbox holder, the curving column and the light.

The casting is in the Naturalistic style, patinated with gilt gold plating. At the centre is a majestic Moose in `natural` terrain. Cleverly an ashtray is built into the landscape. A `boulder` in the background securely holds a matchbox. Alternatively this lamp could hold business cards.

From behind the sculpture rises a column leading to the lamp. The column has a reeded texture decorated with leaves. The junction where the column attaches to the lamp has a brass pivotal bolt to adjust the direction of the light.

The antique glass lampshade is screwed in place to the original Bakelite lamp holder. This adds authenticity to the design. The lampshade has a satin finish, to diffuse the light. It is decorated with clear fluted lines which highlight its bulbous shape.

This lamp carries one standard (E27) big screw light bulb up to 60 Watts. Presently fitted & photographed with a light bulb of 25 Watts, which is included in the price. It is possible to used other E27 bulb types.

At the bottom of the base there is new white felt to protect the furniture when this lamp is in place. The silk cable comes out the side of the lamp.

This antique lamp is in very good condition. The bronze is sound with no damages and has the original antique patina adding character. The lampshade is in good condition with no cracks or chips; only a bit of grazing & wear along the narrow ring trim.

Packing is offered free of charge. We take special professional care while packing. For safe transport the glass lampshade would be removed and packed separately with bubble wrap and an outer layer of card. The base would be packed similarly. Together these pieces would easily fit into a box with cushion filling for secure shipping with a courier.
