Antique bronze frame oval wall mirror, signed by Moderna, 1940`s ca, Italian.
This mirror has been cleaned respecting the vintage patina.
Elegant quality oval mirror where the modernist interpretation of the traditional scrolling bronze work keeps the design decorative & `light`.
Ideal for many interior design schemes such as Regency, Traditional, Art Deco, Hollywood Regency, Industrial and Contemporary.
The quality bronze oval frame has a combination of polished & textured surfaces adding depth to the design.
Around the frame are 16 scalloped shell patterns with scrolling foliate & circular details. These have a depth of 2 cm which contributes to the design.
There is an external edge or trim in polished bronze following the shape of the oval mirror. This is repeated with the internal frame which holds the actual mirror surface.
Inside is the original silver mirror with a bevelled edge to highlight the oval form.
The mirror is secured on the reverse side by 10 metal brackets. There is also fitted to the frame at the back removable hooks so this mirror can hang portrait as in the photographs, or landscape. At present there is fitted a metal cable to two fixed brackets on the frame to hang this mirror portrait to the wall.
The mirror surface is in excellent condition as is the frame which has an attractive antique patina.
On the reverse of the frame the scalloped portions are all stamped `Moderna`& `624`. The scrolling portions are stamped `628`. The individual bronze castings are manually screwed together, which is a sign of quality.
The dimensions of the actual mirror surface alone are: Length: 71, Width: 46 cm.
Packing is offered free of charge. This mirror would be thoroughly wrapped in bubble wrap with an outer layer of cardboard.
