Antique bronze frame wall mirror, signed by Moderna, 1940`s ca, Italian.
Elegant quality rectangular mirror where the modernist interpretation of the traditional scrolling bronze iron work keeps this design both decorative and `light`. Ideal for many interior design schemes such as Art Deco, traditional, Hollywood Regency and contemporary. Good size wall mirror that could fit above a fireplace or console. It would also work well in a bedroom or bathroom.
The quality bronze octagonal frame has a combination of polished and textured surfaces adding depth to the design. A texturised scrolling foliate runs in the middle of the frame composition, and is enhanced with a few circular details. The external edge is composed by individual bars of polished bronze screwed together, with detailed circular textured decoration in the corners. The inner edge is composed by a thick solid continuous band of polished bronze surrounding the bevelled edge mirror, and securing it safely by 8 removable metal brackets on the backside. The mirror surface is the original and in excellent condition as is the frame. The frame has the original warm antique patina.
On the reverse of the frame is stamped `Moderna` and `628`. The individual bronze castings are screwed together, which is a sign of quality. There is a brass chain on the back that hooks to two fixed brackets on the frame to hang this mirror to the wall.
The dimensions of the actual mirror surface alone are: Height: 72 cm, Width: 42.5 cm.
