Antique brass bucket/bin (coal scuttle) with copper banding,1900`s ca, English.

This item has been gently cleaned while respecting the antique patina and is ready to use.

Ideal for coal, logs or plants, this bin has an honest & authentic design. It includes the original tin insert which is often missing. It would be a decorative & practical accessory for a range of interiors including Edwardian, Art Deco, Traditional, Industrial or Contemporary.

Encircling this bin is a wide copper band. This has a hammered finish in the Arts & Crafts style which adds texture & reflection. This is trimmed above & below with riveted brass banding with decorative copper nails. The bin is finished with similar brass banding at the top & bottom.

At the top there is a semicircular carrying handle or `bail` which flips down either side. The bail is made from brass tubing worked flat at each end to join the hinge. Securely riveted, the hinge is attached to the bin in two places and the handle with one rivet. This junction is finished with a sort of `3 leaf` pattern.

Inside there is the original removable tin insert. This has two grip handles either side which can fold down out of view.

This antique piece is in very good condition. Both containers are sound without cracks or holes to the metal. The brass & copper surfaces have a gently aged patina and minor marks in line with age.

Packing is offered free of charge. We take special professional care in packing. For safe transport this piece would be bubble wrapped & put into a box with loose packing fill ideal for posting.
