Although unmarked, the simple & austere design blending Art Deco modern lines with Arts & Crafts craftmanship is characteristic of the early designs of Gordon Russell and his Cotswold School, the attributed designer & manufacturer.
Its elegant modernist shape and rich texture with the use of oak wood make it a decorative statement piece. It would complement a range of Interiors such as Art Deco, Traditional, Mid-century, Hollywood Regency, Industrial, Minimalist or Contemporary.
The design is smart & simple: a round frame surrounding a silver mirrored surface. Art Deco references are present in the straight lines, geometric shapes & clean edges.
The solid wooden frame is in polished oak. Signs of quality craftsmanship in the tight subtle exposed wooden joints. The flat frontside is accentuated with alternating round & square tapered decorations (four of each type) creating movement. There is a chamfered stepped trim, enhanced with subtle banding, running along the mirror surface.
The quality antique silver mirror surface is original to the piece. It has a beveled edge which adds depth & a subtle emerald reflection when viewed from the sides.
On the back there is the original wooden backplate. To hang the mirror on the wall there are two metal plates and the original antique decorative geometric chain. The chain has extra length so the mirror can be hanged either with the chain showing (in full length) or hidden (by the use of a metal ring).
This antique mirror is in good condition for its age. The antique patina has been preserved. The wood frame is sound and the joints are tight, with no cracks or dents, and only minor marks & light rubbing in line with age. The mirror surface is clean & very reflective, with no chips. Minor marks, some light scratches and light foxing in a tiny area, as expected with age & use.

Packing is offered free of charge. We take special professional care while packing. The mirror would be wrapped in bubble wrap, foam and an outer layer of card.
