Angelo Mangiarotti style chandelier, Murano glass chain link on a chrome frame, 1990`s ca, Italian.
This chandelier has been gently cleaned while respecting the vintage patina. It is newly rewired & earthed with silver silk cable, PAT tested by an electrician, fully working and ready to install. Light bulbs included. This chandelier can be used with a dimmer. It is possible to use this chandelier in other countries although it may be necessary to purchase different light bulbs suitable to local electricity.
Angelo Mangiarotti`s 1960`s chandelier of chain link Murano glass is the 20th Century Design Classic which inspired this piece. Mangiarotti`s original model `Giogali` was innovative, winning the `Compasso d’oro` at the Triennal of Milan in 1969.
This vintage Italian chandelier, although dating probably from the late 20th Century/early 21st Century, has many of the same quality & design features as Mangiarotti`s original design: clear textured Murano glass interlocking chain links and a chrome tiered frame. The links where designed to be cleverly moved around creating different patterns & shapes.
This large size piece is perfect for contemporary decorating, either above a table, in a staircase, or as a focal point of any room. The tiered form with its cascading waterfall pattern is grand, but still `light`. This look is ideal for a range of interiors such as Traditional, Art Deco, French, Hollywood Regency, 70`s Glamour, Minimalist or Contemporary.
Arranged down the 3 tiers are 120 handmade Murano clear glass removable open chain links. Presently photographed with chains of a series of 4 glass pieces on each chain. The top of the glass links hook onto the frame.
The interlocking glass links allows to change the overall length & design for infinite possibilities.
In total there are 120 glass links that initially could be put in rows of 4 links on each tier: 64 hang on the top tier, 40 on the second tier & 16 on the bottom tier. The glass links could also be placed in an alternate pattern to create different shapes or heights & volume (as photographed). The texturised glass surface of the links creates a sense of movement and beautifully reflects the light. Each glass shade is thick & strong, and has a long hook portion on the back to safely secure to the frame.
The quality chrome frame has a polished finish. From a central column there are 3 concentric tiered circles, each of which is secured to the column by several horizontal supports.
The top row of six pivotal E 14 lamp holders rotate in various directions to create different effects and angles with the lights. The middle tier has three E 14 lamp holders facing down, and at the bottom there is one E 27 down lighter. In total the chandelier has 10 lights. All the lamp holders have decorative chrome lamp holder covers.
Carries 9 standard E 14 small screw light bulbs up to 40 Watts each, and 1 standard E 27 big screw light bulb up to 60 Watts at the bottom. At present fitted & photographed with Candle clear light bulbs which are included in the price.
At the top of the frame, there is a chrome ring screwed to the main structural rod inside the frame, and a chrome chain. The chain finishes at the top with a chrome ceiling cup, where inside, there is a hook to hang the chandelier to the ceiling.This chain could be lengthened or shortened as needed.
This chandelier is in very good condition. All the glass links are in excellent condition with no chips or cracks. The frame is sound and with no damages.

The total Height of the frame with the glass links (as in the option photographed), but no chain is: Height: 100 cm, Width: 56 cm , Depth: 56 cm.
The frame alone (without the glass or the chain) is: Height: 75 cm, Width: 50 cm, Depth: 50 cm.
Each glass link is: Height: 13 cm, Width: 10 cm, Depth: 5 cm.
Packing is offered free of charge. We take special professional care with packing. This chandelier travels well as all the components can be easily wrapped separately. For safe transport the frame would be wrapped in bubble wrap and reinforced with card. Each glass link would be wrapped in card & bubble wrap. Small groups of glass shades would be boxed. These boxes would be placed in a larger box with the frame, together with loose fill packing peanuts ideal for safe posting.
ANGELO MANGIAROTTI BIOGRAPHY
Angelo Mangiarotti (1921- 2012) graduated from the Milan Polytechnic. He has worked in the United States, Europe & Japan. Mangiarotti’s designs focused on the essential characteristics of every object with the form following the quality of the material.
