Sciolari brass chandelier with a distressed finish & crystals, 1970`s ca, Italy.

Thoroughly cleaned, newly rewired, in full working order and ready to install. Light bulbs included.

In this large vintage Neoclassical chandelier Gaetano Sciolari cleverly combined a traditional antique chandelier form with a Modernist Design. The composition consists of two round crowns joined by 8 curved arches. Each crown is compose by alternated links, one vertical in brushed gold holding a crystal shard, and one triangular in polished gold from which hangs a crystal optical droplet. This chandelier has a natural & unique distressed patina in shades of gold.

This piece is decorated with an impressive 36 crystal rods and 48 hand-polished optical crystal droplets. All are in excellent condition. At the bottom, the piece is beautifully finished with a weighted diamond cut large crystal suspended by a series of round faceted crystal beads.

The chandelier carries 12 standard small screw light bulbs (E14) up to 40 Watts each; 4 on the upper tier and 8 on the lower. Presently fitted & photographed with Pygmy shaped clear light bulbs 15 Watts, which are available from most lighting shops. Alternatively it is possible to use any other bulbs such as candle shape for a classical look. The chain is original to the piece and can be reduced or lengthened. At the top of the chain there is the original gold tone ceiling cap which has inside an S hook for fitting to the ceiling. All the glass pieces can be removed and individually wrapped and the chain folded so this piece can be safely packed in a box. Newly rewired and in full working order. Light bulbs included.

Height of the frame alone without the chain is 64 cm

Height of the chain alone is 50 cm.

Gaetano Sciolari Biography

While Sciolari Lighting has been around since 1892, it was their most famous offspring Gaetano Sciolari who went on to design for Italian manufacturer Stilnovo in the 1950’s. Sciolari`s first designs were Atom inspired pendants, but in the 60’s he shifted to conventional chandelier forms. Read more on our Blog about Gaetano Sciolari.
