Limburg flush lights, set of 5, each with purple Art glass on a brass frame, 1970`s ca, German.

All 5 lights have been thoroughly cleaned respecting the vintage patina. Newly rewired, earthed, in full working order & ready to install. Light bulbs included. It is possible to install these lights in other countries although it may be necessary to purchase different light bulbs suitable to local electricity. They can be used with a dimmer.

These vintage lights, by quality German manufacturer Glashuette Limburg were designed to work as either wall lights or flush ceiling lights.

They can sell together as a set of 5, or separate. This price above is for the set of 5 together.

Like glowing Amethyst these vintage lights have a Futuristic presence yet still a `sense of warmth`. The handmade art glass shade appears `framed` by the polished brass square cover. The glass is finished with a polished brass disc.

The design is curious, modern, sultry & sculptural. They would give an elegant presence to a range of interior schemes such as Art Deco, Modernist, Minimalist, Hollywood Regency, 70`s Glamour, Postmodern, Industrial or Contemporary.

Each light consists of 3 parts: the glass shade, a square metal base & a square brass cover.

Most impressively are the handmade circular glass shades which have the appearance of Amethyst. The glass is super quality featuring 3 glass blowing techniques; `Sommerso`, `Bullicante` & `Fenicio`. Sommerso can be seen as the glass has 2 inner layers of colour and a transparent outer layer. Bullicante leaves air bubbles which complement the swirls of purple & brown created from Fenicio. The result gives the impression of age old marbled stone.

At the centre of each shade there is a decorative polished solid brass disc. This is positioned slightly dimpled which adds to the sense of depth.

The base of each light is composed of two parts: The back portion that screws to the wall/ceiling and a removable brass cover that `frames` the circular shade. Once the decorative cover is in place the glass shade sits in front. The glass shade is securely held on to the base by metal spring loaded pegs; 2 on each small light and 3 on the big light. This allows for the bulbs to be changed easily.

At the back of each base there are 4 metal pegs so that the light is positioned slightly forward from the wall/ceiling. This further adds to the sense of depth. The base has two holes through which the light is safely screwed in place.

The bases have a gilt metal finish. On the reverse side 3 are finished in white and 2 in gold. These variations are not viewed when in place as the light sits flush on the wall.

The 4 smaller lights each carry one (E14) standard small screw light bulb up to 40 Watts. Presently fitted with clear Pygmy light bulbs of 25 Watts which are included in this price. It is possible to use other E14 shape bulbs. The single large light carries 1 (E27) standard big screw light bulb up to 40 Watts. Presently fitted with a clear Golf light bulb of 25 Watts which is included in this price but could take other types of E27 bulb.

This set of 5 lights are all in very good condition. All the glass shades are in excellent condition, there are no chips or cracks. The polished brass surfaces have the original clear lacquer present on the brass. There are superficial marks & some patina in areas of the brass developed under the lacquer in line with age. The metal bases have superficial rubbing in line with age. The original Limburg maker`s label is present inside all 5 brass frames.

Additional dimensions:

The large light is: Height: 20 cm, Width: 20 cm, Depth: 9.5 cm.

Each of the set of 4 small lights is: Height: 15 cm, Width: 15 cm, Depth: 7.5 cm.
